Companies need a network security solution that identifies the user, the workstation and the network. The Juniper solution provides pre- and post-authentication, quarantine for non-compliant users and granular network access. "Use cases" like guests, partners, service providers and mobile users can be easily implemented while the existing infrastructure is integrated as well. This secures a company's investment in network equipment and avoids dependence on a single vendor.
A datasheet for the Juniper Unified Access Control (UAC) product family can be found at:
Juniper UAC product family.
UAC provides the following functions and features for more flexibility:
- UAC works vendor-independently with 802.1X-enabled switches and access points
- UAC works with Windows, Mac, Linux and Solaris platforms
- Existing Juniper firewalls and 802.1X-enabled switches can be used
UAC includes:
- Infranet Controller (hardware) and user licenses (endpoint licenses) which acts as the central "Policy Engine" in an existing AAA infrastructure.
- The UAC agent or Odyssey Access Client, which is rolled our dynamically by the controller. The agent includes layer 2 and 3 network access, the host checker, host enforcer and a stateful personal firewall. "Agentless" access is available for guest scenarios.
- UAC enforcement points, e.g. Juniper Firewalls and 802.1X-enabled switches or any other vendor.
