There are 2 principal options for using RSA SecurID token authentication:1. Self-operation of the authentication server or
2. Managed SMS authentication by indevis: indevis SMS (iSMS)
Since 1999 indevis GmbH has been implementing both solutions according to customer requirements.

How does the indevis SMS authentication work?With the SMS authentication the password is only valid at the time in which it is used. The time-factor plays the decisive role.
Username + PIN + SMS-Code = Network Access
After entering the username and PIN, an SMS text message code is sent to the user´s mobile phone. This SMS code is only valid for 15 minutes and must be entered in the displayed login box. This authentication request is encrypted and transmitted to the central authentication server. In case of accuracy and consistency of the entered data, the authentication is successful and the user gets access to defined network resources.
The system consists of the following three components:
1. SMS - On-Demand Token
After entering his username and PIN at a login page, the user receives an SMS token code. This code SMS Token is valid for 15 minutes and enables the authentication and access to the company´s data.
2. RSA Authentication Manager (Server)
The RSA Authentication Manager Server is used to check the username and PIN, as well as the sent 8-digit SMS code.
3. RSA Agent
The agent takes the RSA authentication requests (user name, PIN and SMS token code) and forwards it to the RSA Authentication Manager. Only upon successful authentication, the user can access the protected network resources.
