Managed server monitoring
Since 1999 indevis GmbH has been offering managed IT security and network services. These services must be fully available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week throughout the whole year.In order to achieve this availability we have built up an extensive server and network monitoring infrastructure based on Azeti Server-Monitoring Appliances.
Our experience with these systems is so positive that we offer indevis Server Monitoring (iSM) to our customers as a managed service on a monthly fee.
There are 2 principal options for implementing a network-monitoring solution:
1. Self-operation of the network monitoring server
2. Managed indevis Server Monitoring: indevis ServerMonitoring (iSM)
indevis GmbH implements both solutions according to customer requirements.
2.: Managed indevis Server Monitoring (iSM):
With indevis ServerMonitoring (iSM) we offer a scalable and easy-to-deploy monitoring solution without any initial investment.
How does iSM work?
The customer tells us the IP addresses to be monitored. All IP-based protocols are supported. The monitoring is done by our indevis iSM server. An IP connection is a prerequisite for this service.
A monitoring agent is installed at the systems to be monitored. This agent communicates with the indevis Server Monitoring (iSM) Server on a fixed IP port.
iSM knows the chain of servers, routers, switches, etc. and enables "intelligent alarming" in case of a system faillure.
How does iSM inform you?
Individual alarming can be defined for each event. E-mail is used for less important events, while an SMS/text message is sent to a mobile phone to report critical system states.
In eyeryday operation the administrator has all information displayed on a website.
Statistical analyses of the availability of all monitored services can be individually produced.
